We're a small, Houston-rooted team that takes on a deliberately limited number of cases each month so every client gets thorough, unhurried attention.
Derrick Lamb spent eleven years as a paralegal at two Houston immigration firms before opening Monroe Pathway Visas in 2014. He grew up in a multi-generational immigrant household in northeast Houston, and that experience shapes how the practice runs: plain language, fixed pricing, and zero condescension.
Outside the office Derrick volunteers Saturday mornings at a community legal clinic on the East End, where he helps walk-in visitors triage their paperwork questions for free.
Credentials & memberships: Member, American Immigration Lawyers Association (associate). Certified BIA-accredited representative training. Bilingual English/Spanish.
You see the price, the timeline, and the document checklist before you sign anything. No "discovery fees", no surprise add-ons.
We cap intake at ~40 new matters per month so each file gets reviewed by a human, not a templating tool.
When a case needs a licensed attorney — removal defense, asylum, criminal-immigration overlap — we say so and refer to a trusted partner.
2014. Derrick opens a one-room office on Monroe Street, just a few blocks from the home he grew up in. The first month brings nine clients — most of them neighbors.
2017. The practice expands to a second-floor suite at the same address. Maria Sandoval joins as case coordinator and brings fluent Spanish-language intake.
2020. The pandemic forces a hard pivot to remote consultations. We rebuild the document workflow around encrypted uploads — and keep that setup permanently because clients love it.
2024. Monroe Pathway Visas crosses its 3,000th completed matter. We add a Saturday-morning community clinic in partnership with a local nonprofit.
Today. A four-person team handling family, employment, student, and naturalization matters across all 50 states from our Houston office.
